WIDA Conference 2020 nears! Register now for the most important conference on the future in education. Find out what the conference is all about, and what you can expect to learn. eSummit session

WIDA is thrilled to announce its eSummit Online Learning Opportunity. This program is open to all domestic WIDA Consortium Members, including federal agencies, state governments, and territories. WIDA eSummit 2019 will focus on navigational and design aspects of the 2020 Edition WIDA ELD. To learn more, visit the WIDA eSummit page.

WIDA staff, educators and experts will be among the key speakers at the eSummit session. Viet Thanh Nayen was a finalist in the PEN/Faulkner Award and a Pulitzer Prize Winner. Other sessions will discuss topics that will be of relevance to teachers of K-12 multilingual student and include the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework. WIDA eSummit attendees will be able to hear from WIDA staff members and receive updates on social media.

Registration requirements

WIDA Annual Conference began in 2013 and has since been to many different cities. The first conference drew 600 participants and a lengthy waiting list. Today, the conference draws more than 1,000 attendees. Register for the conference at the WIDA website. This year's theme: Educating Diverse Students: Building Communities of Practice. These registration requirements are necessary to plan for the conference.


To attend the WIDA Annual Conference, you must be a member of WIDA. WIDA members receive discounts on conference registrations. Simply use the code WIDA at registration to register. After completing the registration you can view the full schedule of events. Once you have registered, you can view the conference agenda and pick the sessions that will benefit your professional growth. The conference will feature two keynote speakers.

Keynote speaker

The WIDA conference is the premier event for educators, and the keynote speaker will be Viet Thanh Nguyen, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Dayton Literary Peace Prize finalist, and professor at the University of Southern California. WIDA's eConference will include sessions that correspond with the conference theme. WIDA English language development standards framework will also be showcased. Participants can choose from five concurrent sessions within each block.

WIDA conference also features online presentations, curated panels, and access to recordings after the event. The WIDA eConference will also feature a spotlight session on parent outreach. WIDA's featured educator program will highlight outstanding colleagues in the classroom, district and state education fields. WIDA will feature key note speakers and educational leaders through its Featured Education program.

Video Library Conference

Video Library professionals will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and best practice to further the field. By using this digital platform, attendees can view conference video from any PC, Mac, iDevice, or web browser. To access the videos, attendees don't require any special hardware. They can also share their online credentials to other library colleagues. You can also access the conference program using the video library's detailed instructions.

The PLA celebrated its 75th anniversary on Oct. 13, 2019 and is continuing to celebrate its history in 2020. It has released an Anniversary video featuring stories from members and has launched a fundraising campaign to provide 15 scholarships for the Video Library Conference 2020. Library school students, early career librarians, support staff are all eligible to receive scholarships. Two new initiatives were developed by the organization with Microsoft to support librarian staff and enhance professional development. The PLA offers many initiatives to help libraries thrive and grow.
