FAQ

What is the greatest challenge to online learning?

The most difficult thing is to keep students engaged through the course. The biggest challenge is keeping students engaged throughout the course. The best way to ensure your students stay focused is to give them many choices. Giving students options means they have the ability to choose which modules, chapters, or exercises they'd like, and what tests, assignments, and websites they want.

How can I decide which eLearning platform I want to use?

There are thousands upon thousands of eLearning platform options today. Some are free and others are more expensive.

When choosing between these options, you need to ask yourself some questions.

  • Do you have the desire to create your own learning materials. If you do, there are lots of tools that can help you create your own online courses. These include Adobe Captivate. Articulate Storyline. Lectora. iSpring Suite. and Camtasia.
  • Do I want to purchase ready-made eLearning courses? Several companies sell pre-packaged courses. They range from $20 to $100 per course. Mindjet, Edusoft, or Thinkful are some of the most popular.
  • Do I want a combination of both? Many people find that using a combination of company materials and their own material produces the best results.
  • Which option is best? It all depends on your circumstances. It all depends on your situation. However, after you have gained some experience, it may be worth looking into purchasing pre-designed courses.

How much multimedia should an eLearning course contain?

This depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you are looking for a quick way to deliver information, then less is probably better. If you're looking to deliver training that helps people do something, however, more might be better.

The most important thing is to know what your goals are for your eLearning courses. You also need to understand what your learners expect from your course. This will help you ensure you have sufficient content to meet your goals.

You can take this example:

It's best to give people lots of examples to learn about Microsoft Word. On the other hand, if you want to teach people how to use Excel, then you would need to show them many different types of spreadsheets.

You should also consider whether images or video are best to illustrate concepts.

Video is great for teaching people how to do things, but it's not as good at explaining complex topics. It is also expensive to produce. Although images are less expensive to produce than videos, they convey the same emotion as video.

The bottom line is to think carefully about the end result before designing your eLearning courses.

What are the various types of e-learning available? What are their purposes?

There are three major types e-learning.

  1. Content delivery - This type of e-learning aims to provide students with information. You can find textbooks or lesson plans as examples.
  2. Instructional design is a type of eLearning that focuses on teaching learners skills. Examples include tutorials or simulations.
  3. Learning management - This type of eLearning provides tools for instructors to organize and monitor student activity. These include virtual classrooms and discussion forums.

What should an eLearning course look and feel like?

Your eLearning course should encourage interaction between learners.

This means that the design needs to be easy to navigate, and the content needs to be presented clearly.

This also means that content must be engaging and interesting.

These are the three main things that will ensure your eLearning course is compliant with these requirements.

Content

The first thing you need to decide is what content you want to include in your eLearning course. You must decide how long each section should be. You will decide how much time each topic should be covered if you're teaching someone how write letters.

Navigation

The second decision that you must make is how you want learners to navigate through your course. Are you asking them to go through each page individually? Or do you want them to jump directly to specific parts of the course?

Design

The last step is to decide the appearance of your course. You need to determine how long each screen should take to load and what font size you should use. It is also important to decide whether graphics (such as photos) will be included.

Once you have made all of these decisions, you need to test your course to see if it works well.
